The tangala story
Tangala Safari Camp is one of earliest established safari camps in Thornybush. Being established in 1940 Tangala is entrenched in the history of the region. In 2016, the safari camp underwent a renovation that saw the introduction to 6 new luxury colonial tents. A major addition was the transition to an eco-friendly approach to the operation of the safari camp.
All the power is sourced from solar renewable energy. This decision was made to ensure our responsibility to planet and the sustainability of the ecology in the area is achieved.
In 2017 Thornybush dropped its fences adjoining the world-renowned Kruger National Park. This resulted in the free movement of wildlife in the area as well as treasured safari experiences.
How we give back
Tangala Safari Camp gives back in two major ways. The first is through our pivotal role in sustainability. Tangala Safari Camp is powered by Solar energy through our solar farm. This means Tangala Safari Camp is completely off the grid. Our water is pumped from a borehole using its own solar farm.
Rhino conservation is becoming more and more imperative and Tangala is doing its utmost best in contributing to conservation. Tangala Safari Camp contributes on a monthly basis to the protection rhino in the area.
Tangala exceeded all our expectations. Spectacular experience of the Big 5. The leopard and the lion sightings were phenomenal. To Karien and Bertus thank you for being so friendly. To Doctor and Eugene your skills were unbelievable. Best guide and tracker out there. The staff and accommodation at Tangala were incredible - thank you for making our stay an unforgettable experience.

When you are looking for a game drive, look no further! In Tangala Safari camp the wild animals just walk at ten feet close to your tent!
The drives were super, you come very close to all animals including the big 5! Vincent and his crew do everything to make the Safari experience on his best!

Having been on many safari camps throughout Africa we were 1 couple out of 3. This has to be the most amazing place staying in the tents. The accommodation and location are truly amazing, the staff are all so friendly and helpful the food is top quality, the guides so knowledgeable and more importantly there are all the "big five" to see inc elephants outside the camp up close at the waterhole. This place is exceptional and we will definitely be returning.
